A Theological Glossary covers various theisms, -isms, orthopraxy, orthodoxy, hard v soft polytheism, and additional related terms.
UPG – Unverified Personal Gnosis; knowledge or a conclusion you come about to because of your personal experience with Someone. Some find this to be an okay term to use, the current best choice, and some aren’t a fan of it. A Farewell to UPG and SPG looks as why other phrases can clarify what is meant by UPG and may be better choices for some. I’ve also seen PCPG used to refer to Peer Corroborated Personal Gnosis.
This post by Grumpylokeanelder and his tag about it can be helpful for those who aren’t sure what shadow work is. I currently plan on providing more links that can be helpful from others have gone through shadow work and survived in a separate post.
Of Masks and Men talks about Entities answering the phone for Deity-as-Title, which can be why several Entities answer the phone for a particular Title (often seen with Infernal Titles like “Lucifer”, “Satan”, and “Devil”). However, this doesn’t mean that The Deity wouldn’t have Someone answer Their phone and have full access to the Title powers and such outside of the Infernal pantheon. Differing UPG is not wrong from one person to another because you’re relationship is specific to Who you’re interacting with.
I brought up the Comet-Shard Theory in a tumblr back-and-forth concerning the above post. The blogger who initially came up with the theory has deleted the source post, however I mention it here in that back and forth. Some of my old records use “comet-shard” to refer to the Faces that Deities very specifically turn to me (and due to the nature of the theory, only to me) and to there being more than one version (based on points in Their mythology) communicating at one time.
Misconceptions about Demons covers the differences between Faces and Hats. It’s similar to the first linked to post, though “Hat” is being used for the Deity-as-Title and also refers to Someone having access to the powers of the Title. The “Face” is more like the side that gets shown to an individual and variations in UPG, offering preferences, etc. can show up in what one Face asks compared to another.
I’ve recently started to use “Face” instead of “comet-shard”, though I kind of view them as sibling terms (related). I have nothing against the Comet-Shard Theory, and it has been helpful in being able to grasp how my Deities are showing individual Faces to me and how I shouldn’t try to compare what I’m doing with what someone else is doing (in a manner similar to us getting our own comet-shard, we get Faces that are turned to us and quite likely only to us).
My Odin and Other People’s Odins takes the idea of Faces and Hats put forth in “Misconceptions about Demons” and applies it to non-Infernal Deities. I personally rather like the metaphorical approach of a Deity being more like a corporation in explaining how there can be more than One Entity and everyone typically gets Someone that they then return to when they interact again.
